Fun in Alaska

Sweet little Brynn - looks like a mini-Lindsay here

I know that I am posting this over a month later, but I wanted to share some memories and pictures that I took while visiting Steve, Lindsay, Brynn and Sage in Alaska. Thanks to them for flying me up there! Although I lived in the state closest to Alaska all of my life (Washington), I had never once been farther north to the 49th state. It is beautiful country - majestic mountains, wildlife, amazing fishing - incredible! Steve and I went King Salmon fishing one day, but due to just plain bad luck and a reel that decided to fall apart, we did not catch anything. I still had a great time enjoying the experience and watching a few others catch their limit for the day (which is one king salmon if it was over 16 inches).

Lindsay and I have always talked about getting together to sew and do crafty things. We have that in common! Most of what we were able to accomplish was later in the evening after the munchkins went to bed. Lindsay had just received a preview of a logo for her new business "L P designs". It looked great! Her hair bows, burp rags and bibs are going to be a hit at the store that will have them on consignment .

We attended a quilting class at the ward building in Eagle River and learned how to make a fourth of July table top runner. Unfortunately, our preparations for the class (in order to save time) ended up costing us more time as we tried to fix our errors during the class! We did get some done back at the house, but I took mine home to Texas and finally finished it here yesterday!

I would love to visit them again in Alaska, and I hope Byron can come next time! He would love the fishing and the beautiful surroundings, and to get to know Lindsay and her family better.

I have more pictures that I wanted to post, but I cannot find the file on my computer at this time. I sure hope that I can locate them! I will post more once I do.

It has been a long time.....

It has been over a year and a half since we last posted on this blog. We have decided to recommit ourselves to updating this regularly. There are many projects that we are working on, and we feel it essential to involve our children and their families in the goals that we are striving for. I used to be an avid journal writer - I did for many years on end when I was a teenager and very little in my years as a young mother. I regret that I didn't keep up with it. Life is unique for every one of us, and each experience can build us, even if we feel that it is not always pleasant. We never know if what we write will be a source of strength to our children and grandchildren someday.

Some of the topics that we will cover include:
Home Life
Genealogy and Temple Work
Scripture Reading and Insights
Gardening
Money Matters
Searching for the family Homestead
Byron's business (roofing, sales ideas, etc)
Valerie's employment (nursing, teaching at a university)
Sewing and Quilting Ideas
Crafts and Fun Projects for the Home
Cooking, Baking and other Food Ideas
All about Chickens
Banjo's Life
Cat-astrophes
Adopting an Organic Way of Life - one step at a time
Family Home Evening Lessons
Primary Lessons and what they can teach all of us
The Proclamation of the Family and the family in society today

There may be more ideas and topics that are born as we venture through this blogging adventure. I'm still learning how to incorporate pictures and video into this blog. I have so many to share with all of you!!

So, let this be an intro to a new, improved version of TWO BULLS ON THE DANCE FLOOR - brought to you with unconditional love by Byron and Valerie!! (Dad and Mom, Papa Byron and Grandma Valerie).

How two bulls came together harmoniously

Our love story is unique to us. We would like to share this with our families in hopes that they will discover that true love doesn't always come when we expect it - and if we do not pay attention to promptings by the Spirit we may miss the greatest blessings intended for us.
